European Command

While most MISLS graduates landed in the Pacific War, others worked on missions in the Continental U.S. and in Europe.

Germany:

In Berlin, Allied Forces and MIS Nisei linguists Patrick Nagano, Kazuo Yamane, and George Urabe captured, decoded, and translated the Japanese ambassador’s messages to Tokyo. They caught one message that detailed Germany’s western defense.

Two MIS linguists prepared to enter Berlin to take documents from the Japanese embassy. The war ended before the mission began.
