May 25: Remembering Our Nisei Veterans
This Memorial Day, as most events were cancelled due to the Covid-19 pandemic, NJAHS remembers our Nisei Veterans who sacrificed so much for their families, community and nation. We’d like to share works from two of our talented creators Lane Nishikawa , director of ONLY THE BRAVE and Anthony Brown, composer of GO FOR BROKE! They draw their inspiration from their personal connections to the 100/442nd/MIS and veterans of World War II. This is a dramatic feature film based on the true stories of the segregated Japanese American 100th/442nd Regiment of the U.S. Army and their rescue of the “Lost Battalion”, the Texans of the 141st Regiment, who were trapped behind enemy lines in the Vosges Forest of France, in October 1944, during WWII.
