It is a great honor to announce that we, NJAHS, were awarded the Conferment of the Foreign Minister’s Commendations for 2010. The reception was held on Monday, December 6 at the Consul General’s Residence.

The certificate was presented to NJAHS Board Member, Marvin Uratsu, and Executive Director, Rosalyn Tonai, by the Honorable Hiroshi Inomata, Consulate General of Japan in San Francisco.

National Japanese American Historical Society

The National Japanese American Historical Society is hereby recognized for its extensive contributions toward the exchange between Japan and the United States by preserving historical materials related to Japanese immigration to the United States, educating and enlightening citizens throughout the United States about the wartime experiences of Japanese Americans, and undertaking wide-reaching initiatives in public education about Japanese American History.

On the auspicious occasion of the 150th anniversary of the arrival of the Kanrin Maru in the Port of San Francisco, I present to you this certificate in commemoration of your distinguished achievements with my deepest respect and gratitude.
