Koji Lau-Ozawa and colleagues Jun Sunseri and Davina Two Bears are hosting a community day event to kick off their archaeological fieldwork this summer at the site of the Old Leupp Federal Indian Boarding School and Citizen Isolation Center in Arizona.
The event will be on July 19th, and will include a visit to the site of Old Leupp on Navajo Nation, a discussion of the history of the site as Boarding School as well as its use as an Isolation Center for Japanese Americans, and testimonies from members of the Japanese American and Diné communities with connections to the site.

About the team:
Koji Lau-Ozawa is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Anthropology at UCLA focusing on the archaeology of Japanese American incarceration, especially where it intersects with Indigenous lands.
Davina Two Bears is an Assistant Professor at ASU, her maternal grandparents attended the Old Leupp Boarding School on which she focused her dissertation research.
Jun Sunseri is an Associate Professor at UC Berkley, and has worked with many tribes on community archaeology projects.
